“State of the Harbour” Scorecard
The Porirua Harbour and Catchments Community Trust (PHT) has an important role in supporting the community, the councils, Ngāti Toa Rangatira and agency action to make positive changes to the ecosystems of the catchment and harbour.
In earlier years the Trust’s predecessor reported annually with reference to a set of State of the Harbour indicators with the aim of tracking progress towards a healthy harbour.
The fifth and last Annual Scorecard was completed in March 2018 for the 2017 year.
In 2019 the Councils requested that given that much of the data and information on harbour health was sourced from the councils (particularly the Greater Wellington Regional Council), that they should assume responsibility for publishing regular state of the harbour and catchments reports. In February 2021 the Porirua City Council has published a 2020 report on the health of our harbour and streams. You can find that report via the link here.
