Lagoons and Lakes
There are various lakes and lagoons throughout the catchment.
- Lagoons, which are tidal, include Aotea Lagoon, the Papakowhai Lagoons and Okowai lagoons. They have all been formed as a result of the motorway changes in the 1960’s and or subdivision work, they collect water from Aotea, Papakowhai and Paremata areas.
- The lakes, which are fresh water, include Whitby Lake, the lake in the NZ Police College grounds, Okowai Lake and a small lake in Aotea Lagoon.
